ربما يكون نص (زمن ... بلا أحلام) الأكثر تعبيراً عما أراد قوله "الطويل": "كالتاريخ الذي ينقش نفسه على الأرض العربية بأهوائه وأهواله.. بأفراحه وأتراحه.. بشموعه ودموعه.. بنحيبه وزغاريده.. بضجيجه وصمته.. بنعيمه وجحيمه ذاك هو أنا...".
