"نور الفجر الضعيف يتسلل من النافذة المُغلقة، ويرسم ظلالًا ضخمة لكل وجه، يحيطون بي من كل جانب! هم السبب في كوابيسي! لا، بل هذا الفتي الذي لا يتوقف عن النظر لي!
اتجهتُ نحوه بغضب، أُمسك وجهه بين يديّ، وأضربه بقوة في الحائط، تهشّم.. تناثر لقطع صغيرة بضربة واحدة، أجوف، فارغ.. هشّ! كأنه لا شيء!"
