يضم هذا المجلد بين طياته دراسة ملحقة بتحقيق لطيف لمتن كتاب "أبي جعفر أحمد بن محمد الطبري الشافعي "الرياض النضرة في مناقب العشرة" الذين يعد من أهم المصادر التي تنافح عن أصحاب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، وذلك لأنه جمع بعض ما ورد في مناقب الصحابة، وبالأخص العشرة المبشرين بالجنة، وأيضاً لأن فيه رد لما ينسب إلى الصحابة من بعض الفرق التي جانب الصواب، ويدافع عما أثير حول سيدنا أبي بكر الصديق، بهتاناً وزوراً وعماية وجهلاً.
وبالعودة لمتن هذا الكتاب نجد أنه يضم سرداً لمناقب العشرة المقربين من أصحاب رسول الله (أبو بكر الصديق، عمر بن الخطاب، عثمان بن عفان، علي بن أبي طالب، طلحة بن عبيد الله، الزبير بن العوام، سعد بن أبي وقاص، سعيد بن زيد، عبد الرحمن بن عوف، أبو عبيد بن الجراح)، فيعرف بسمو قدرهم وعلو مراتبهم وسرد بعضاً لما روي من عظيم مآثرهم من خلال الأحاديث النبوية الشريفة، ومما روى عنهم في الكتب والآثار، مبتدئاً بذكر ما شملهم على طريقة التضمن ثم بنا اختص بهم على وجه المطابقة والتعين، ثم بما ورد فيما دون العشرة، وإن انضم إليهم من ليس منهم، ثم بما اختص بالأربعة الخلفاء ولم يخرج عنهم، ثم بما زاد عن الأربعة على واحد، ثم بما ورد في فضل كل واحد.
وأدرج ذلك في قسمين: القسم الأول: بحث في حياة المؤلف الشخصية فعرف بأسرته ومولده ونشأته وصفاته الخلقية ومذهبه وعقيدته، وأعماله ومصدر رزقه ووفاته، وحياته العلمية ورحلاته وشيوخه وتلاميذه. أما القسم الثاني فضم دراسة اهتمت بمتن الكتاب حيث تناولت التعريف بالكتاب وأهميته ومصادره، ومنهجه وصنفه في كتابته وطريقته في عرض المادة العلمية.
