إن الله عز وجل قد اختار لرسوله أصحاباً فجعلهم خير الأنام، واصطفى من أصحابه جملة العشرة الكرام، فرضيهم لعشرته وموالاته. وقد جمع المؤلف في هذا الكتاب مناقب هؤلاء العشرة حيث عرّف بشر قدرهم وعلو مراتبهم وسرد بعضاً لما روي من عظيم مآثرهم من خلال الأحاديث النبوية الشريفة ومما روي عنهم في الكتب والآثار. مبتدئاً بذكر ما شملهم على طريقة التضمن ثم بما اختص بهم على وجه المطابقة والتعين، ثم بما ورد فيما دون العشرة، وإن انضم إليهم من ليس منهم، ثم بما اختص بالأربعة الخلفاء ولم يخرج عنهم، ثم بما زاد عن الأربعة على واحد، ثم بما ورد في فضل كل واحد. وأدرج ذلك في قسمين، الأول: في مناقب الأعداد، والثاني: في مناقب الآحاد.
