تعزّزتْ ادّعاءات الحدّادين بأنّهم من نسل الغساسنة بسبب الإكتشافات الأثريّة الحديثة قرب مادبا، حيث عُثر على مجمّع كنسيّ في قرية النتل، وفيه كنيستان متجاورتان فيهما نقوش يونانيّة بأسماء "ثعلبة" و"أريتاس" – وهي أسماء من سلالة الغساسنة – وأيضاً كنيسة صغيرة لدفن الفيلارخات الغساسنة.
يؤكّد التاريخ المنقوش، والذي يعود إلى النصف الأوّل من القرن السادس، الحضور القويّ للغساسنة في المنطقة والذي من المفترض أنّه مستمرّ حتى يومنا هذا.
