حين تُذكر الرواية الفلسطينية تتداعى إلى أذهاننا حكايات التاريخ الفلسطيني بما فيها القص الشعبي القائم على استحضار الذاكرة الجماعية، التي تغري بالبحث عن خصوصية المنكان ورمزيته عند الإنسان الفلسطيني، وهو ما تفعله الروائية ياسمين زهران في روايتها "باطن الهواء" وبعنوان فرعي "من ايام فلسطين"، حيث يحضر في الرواية وادي الهواء الذي تخاصم مع الشمس القوية الجبارة ولكن "لم يرضخ لها كلياً كما أحبت، فأصبح في نظرها ثائراً على سلطانها، وقصاصاً له منعته عن الأرض، ونفته إلى نجوم وأفلاكٍ بعيدة في أطراف الكون (...) عرفت في عصور التاريخ بأرض كنعان، وفيما بعد بفلسطين". وفي الرواية تحضر الحكايات الشعبية المرتبطة بالمكان "باطن الهواء" أو وادي الهواء، وتمتد الرواية على أكثر من قرن ونصف من عمر الحكاية الفلسطينية وتعاقب الإحتلال (العثماني – الإنجليزي – اليهودي) على ارض فلسطين. وتحضر أيضاً الإنتفاضة من "ثورة الحجارة إلى ثورة السلاح" وسياسة الإستيطان الإسرائيلي وتهجير السكان والمقاومة الفلسطينية، ولعل تركيز الرواية على استحضار الماضي ما هو إلا محاولة لإنقاذ الذاكرة الفلسطينية والعربية من الموت وصون تاريخ حيّ يعصى على التزوير بواسطة الأدب. وهو ما عبّرت عنه ياسمين زهران في ختام الرواية بقولها: "لعل هذه السطور تُغري البعض بالبحث عن باطن الهواء، وباطن الهواء اليوم ليس الذي كان بالأمس فقد أُحيط من ثلاث جهات بمستوطنات أحلّت بقانون التوازن، وعكرت التناسق بين الأرض والسماء ...".
وإذ نعود إلى الخطاب الروائي في "باطن الهواء" نجد أن التقنية التي يقوم عليها السرد هي صيغة المتكلم، والتذكر والإسترجاع، فمعظم الوقائع متذكرة سواء أكانت واقعية أم متخيلة، وهي تشكل في النهاية مرآة لأفكار الكاتبة وتحليلاتها ورؤاها، ومن خلال رواة ثانويين، هم في الغالب أبطال وضحايات الحكاية الأساسية، والحكايات الثانوية التي تنبت على مجرى الحكاية الأساسية، وتلعب الكاتبة دور المخرج الذي يربط بين هذه الحكايات ناسجة خطابها الروائي، ورسالتها التي تريد إيصالها إلى القارىء ...
