لقد تبنّى الإسلام العلم بمفهومه الشامل الواسع، ومن أهمّ مقاصده العلوم "الكونية والطبيعية" التي زخر بها القرآن الكريم، ودعا إلى تأمّلها خالقُ الأكوان، وذلك إنطلاقاً من التطابق التام بين الكون والقرآن الكريم.
حيث احتوى القرآن الكريم العديد من الآيات العلمية التي صاغها الله تعالى بشكل مستور مُعجِز، بحيث تُفهم في كُلِّ عصر على وجه مختلف، يتناسب مع التقدم العلمي الَّذي وصل إليْهِ ذلك العصر، وضعها سُبْحانَه لتكون معجزة دائمة للقرآن الكريم، تتكشّف على مدى العصور والأزمان، تعطي الجدَّةَ والحيوية لآيات الرحمن، وليعلمَ كلُّ إنسان أنها ليست مِن صُنع الإنسان، بل هي مَنَزَّلةٌ مِن عند خالق الأكوان.
من هنا، قام المؤلف الدكتور "لبيب بيضون" بنخب الآيات القرآنية العلمية التي يفوق عددها 750 آية (أي نحو ثُمْن القرآن) وهي تشكل جانباً هاماً من القرآن الكريم، ثم فسرها بالمنظور العلمي في حين لا يزيد عدد آيات الأحكام الشرعية على 150 آية.
وإذا أضفنا الآيات العلمية إلى بقية العلوم الشرعية والسُّنَن التاريخية، وجدنا أن العلم يستغرق أكثر القُرآن الكريم، فقد وردت لفظة (العلم) في القرآن الكريم ثمانين مرة، مما يدل على أهمية العلم والعلوم في رسالة النور.
