الأقليات وعلاقتها بالأمن القومي العربي موضوع شائك تصدى له هذا الكتاب بكل جدارة واقتدار،من خلال التعريف بأبعاد مشكلة الأقليات وما أفضت إليه من ممارسات داخلية، انعكست بآثارها السلبية على انكشاف مقومات الأمن القومي العربي أمام محاولات الاختراق الخارجي.
وقد انطلق المؤلف من فرضية تناولت تأثير الأقليات على الأمن القومي العربي اعتمادا على رؤية مفادها أن مشكلة الأقليات في الوطن العربي هي مشكلة متعددة الأبعاد والجوانب، بمعنى أن حروب الأقليات المثارة الآن في بعض الأقطار العربية، لا تحدث بفعل متغير واحد، وإنما بسببب جملة من المتغيرات.
كما اتجه المؤلف في هذا الكتاب اتجاهاً قومياً عروبياً توحيدياً لا اتجاهاً غربياً تفتيتياً إزاء الأقليات، إذ ينطلق من كون الأقليات ظاهرة صحية في الجسد العربي لأنها أصيلة ترتبط ارتبطاً وثيقاً بالنسيج الاجتماعي العربي، من حيث التداخل مع الأغلبية العربية في القومية أو اللغة أو الدين أو من حيث الموروث التعاوني المشترك.
يعرض هذا الكتاب لمدى الترابط بين الأقليات والامن القومي العربي،ويمثّل على ذلك بحالات مقتبسة من الواقع العربي المعاصر،من خلال التطرق إلى المسألة الكردية في العراق ومسألة القبائل النيلية في جنوب السودان، بوصفهما من أكثر الحالات دلالة على تفجر مسألة الأقليات في الواقع العربي، وتداخل العوامل الداخلية والخارجية في بلورتها وإثارتها.
ويفرد المؤلف في نهاية الكتاب فصلاً يتناول الرؤية المستقبلية لمشكلة الأقليات وارتباطها بالأمن القومي العربي عموماً، والأمن الوطني خصوصاً،من خلال رسم سيناريوهات متنوعة تأخذ بعين الاعتبار أن بقاء المشكلة في الواقع العربي معول هدم لأمنه القومي، وأن انهاءها بناء على عوامل وأسباب موضوعية، فضلاً عن بعض الحلول و المقترحات التي يمكن أن تيسر لبعض النظم العربية الفرصة لترصين جبهتها الداخلية، هو خطوة مهمة وأساسية على طريق ترصين الأمن القومي العربي في وجه المحاولات الخارجية لاختراقه عبر بوابة الأقليات ومشكلاتها المتصاعدة.
