بقي الأدب الكردي شفوياً حتى القرن الحادي عشر الهجري/السابع عشر الميلادي-حين-قام أحمد خاني بثورته الثقافية الأولى في تاريخ الأكراد، فكتب الملحمة الكردية القديمة "ميم وزين" التي جاءت مترجمة في هذا الكتاب. وقد كانت تروى شفاهاً حتى زمانه، وأخضعها لخياله الشعري وثقافته الصوفية فجاءت تحمل إبداعه الشخصي كأديب كبير.
والمؤلف، قطب صوفي في عصر الدروشة. أحاط بمذاهب الصوفية وتشربها وعندما كتب ملحمته هذه بدا كما لو أنه يستعيد خطاً مقطوعاً انتهى بعبد الكريم الجيلي في القرن التاسع. إلا أنه مدين في الكثير من تصوفه إلى الصوفية الفرس في عصر ما بعد الجيلي. وهؤلاء، غلب عليهم التصوف الاهتيامي الملائم للاهتيامية الفارسية في عشقها للجمال البشري وجمال الطبيعة وهم عشاق في جملتهم يكتبون عن الحب الإلهي من خلال الحب الإنْسي ويتابعون اهتيامية ابن الفارض ضمن الطبيعة الفارسية بجمالها الناطق بالفن.
ويبدو أحمد خاني في ملحمته "ميم وزين" تلميذاً لفريد الدين العطار وحافظ الشيرازي أكثر مما هو لابن العربي الفيلسوف، فالغالب عليه هو الأدب والإحساس الفياض بالجمال، وذلك ما تعرضه لوحات الطبيعة الكردية التي تجمع بين صفات الجمال وصفات الجلال.
وقد جاءت الملحمة زاخرة بالجمال الكردي الناطق بالفن غناء وموسيقى وقصاً، بالإضافة إلى ذلك، تضمنت الملحمة مفردات المذهب الصوفي بمرتبته القطبانية. وقد ابتعد خاني كثيراً عن خط التصوف الاجتماعي فتحدث براحة ضمير عن زين الأميرة الحسناء التي تخدمها مئتا خادمة وتتولى تزينها مئة جارية. وعلى الرغم من ذلك فقد تميز خاني بوعيه القومي، فحمل لواء الثورة على غاصب بلاده ومستعبدي شعبه، فهو أبو الثورة الكردية، كما هو أبو الثقافة الكردية.
