معنى كلمة (طروس) هي (الصحائف)، ومفردها (طرس) أي الصحيفة. وقد أراد المؤلف بهذه التسمية تسجيل ما وقع له من مراسلات بينه وبين أعلام عصره ومشاهيره، وجمعها في هذه الصحائف التي خطها قلمه عليها و(أملاه). ويشتمل "طروس الإنشاء على سجل حافل من المراسلات الشخصية والوقائع التأريخية، وعلى بعض من أدب الدعابة. وقد ظهرت شخصية مؤلفه فيه معبرة عن العصر الذي عاشه بكل خلجاته، وأحاسيسه، وعلاقاته الاجتماعية بشكل عام، هذا وتضمن الكتاب على 1-تحقيق النص الكامل لمخطوطة "طروس الإنشاء" الذي يقع في (45) صفحة كتبها المؤلف بخطه، مع تعريف بالأسماء الواردة فيها، والحوادث التأريخية المتعلقة بها. 2-تكملة "طروس الإنشاء" بإضافة ما تفرق من شعره في المصادر المطبوعة والمخطوطة، وإلحاق منظومتين في "حديث الكساء"، وفي المواريث بهذه "التكملة". 3-ملاحق "طروس الإنشاء": وتتعلق بالنصوص الواردة في الأصل لكنها من السعة بمكان لا يمكن إثباتها بالهوامش، وقد بلغت (16) ملحقاً تأريخياً وأدبياً.
مجموعة من المراسلات الأدبية التي دارت بين السيد محمد القزويني، وأدباء عصره من المشاهير. وقد ظهرت شخصية مؤلفه معبرة عن العصر الذي عاشه بكل خلجاته، وأحاسيسه، وعلاقاته الاجتماعية.
إن (طروس الإنشاء) ملف يتضمن نماذج من أدب المراسلات الشخصية، والنوادر التاريخية، وعلى بعض من أدب الدعابة أيضاً.
إنه مرآة للأدب العراقي نهاية القرن التاسع عشرن وبداية القرن العشرين.
