يحتوي هذا الكتاب على سياحة موجزة لتاريخ علم الفلك منذ ظهور الحضارات الأولى على هذا الكوكب إلى بداية عصر النهضة، ففي مقدمة لتاريخ علم الفلك ونشوءه وتطوره على أيدي فلكيي الحضارات الأولى حتى تبلور الأفكار لديهم عن الفلك وابتداعهم للدائرة البروجية وإيجادهم منازل القمر على الخلفية للحركة الظاهرية واختراعهم نظام العد السيني، ثم ثانياً نبذة موجزة عن نظرية تشكيل النظام الشمسي إلى تشكيل الكوكب يضمنها الأرض التي أصبحت الكوكب الوحيد المأهول بالسكان من بين كل كواكب النظام. ثم بداية ظهور الحياة وسيطرة النباتات على اليابسة، وحركة القارات الأولى التي شكلت اليابسة، ظهور وفناء الحيوانات الضخمة الأولى، ثم ظهور الإنسان في موطنه الأصلي أفريقيا. حتى ظهور أولى الحضارات في بلاد ما بين النهرين وظهور فلكيون استطاعوا رسم خارطة بروجية تتكون من أبراج تخيلها الإنسان حسب تصوراته ذلك الزمان، إلى بداية ظهور الكتابة وتشكيل التقويم البدائي لحاجته إليه في حياته اليومية وانتقال علوم الفلك من حضارة إلى أخرى، وقيام الحضارة الثانية بتطوير ما وصل إليها من علوم الفلك وإضافات من عندها إليهن ثم قيامهم باختراع التنجيم الذي ولد في رحم علوم الفلك إلى بداية عصر النهضة، وخفوت الإبداعات الفلكية في العصور المظلمة صعوداً إلى الثورة على الفلك التقليدي الذي انحرف وأصبح عبارة عن خرافات لا تمت إلى أصل الفلك الأول بصلة. هذا موجز ما موجود داخل الكتاب وستجد تفاصيل أكثر خاصة في توضيح كيفية تشكيل التقويم الذي هو من إنجازات الفلك العظيمة.
