تحت عنوان "جمهرة أشعار الصقلِّيِّين" يقدم أ. د / أسامة إختيار دراسة في الشعر العربي الصقلي عن طريق جمع شعر الصلِّيِّين وإستنباطه من أمَّات المصادر على إختلافها، ثم النظر في تلك الأشعار، وتحقيق نسبتها إلى أصحابها، وتدقيق الإختلاف في أسماء الشعراء وكُناهم وألقابهم على نحوٍ تنضبطُ به نسبة الشِّعر إلى صاحبه، ثم ترجمة للأعلام ممن وردَ ذكرهُم في الأشعار والأخبار مقدماً ذلك على رواية أشعارهم، وشرح الألفاظ، ورتب الديوان على حروف الهجاء مبيناً ما عُرِفَ من اسم الشاعر أو لقبه أو كنيته، وقدم الترجمة على الشعر، وقصر المتن على ذكر الشعر والمصدر الذي ورد فيه، بعد أن جعل قوافي كل شاعر مرتبةً على حروف المعجم مراعياً في الروي الواحد: المقيد فالمطلق، وراعى في المطلق: المضموم فالمفتوح فالمكسور، ثم عالج ما عَرضَ من مشكلات الشعر في الحواشي، ولما استوفى الجزء الأول من هذه الدراسة التي ضمنها تحقيق أشعار الصقلِّييِّن أتبعها بجزءٍ ثانٍ اقتصر فيه على دراسة أشعارهم من حيث إتجاهاتُ موضوعاتها وخصائصها الفنية، فجاءت هذه الدراسة في جزءيها شاملة لأشعارهم منذ فتح صقلية (212هـ) حتى نهاية الوجود العربي فيها (647هـ).
وبناءً على ما تقدم توزعت الدراسة على جزئين احتوى الجزء الأول على العناوين الآتية: "مراحل الوجود العربي في صقلية"، "أصول الشعر العربي الصقلي"، "جمهرة أشعار الصقليين: أحمد بن قاسم الصقلي... وآخرون".
أما الجزء الثاني فاحتوى على الخصائص الفنية لأشعار الصقليين وجاء في ستة فصول انطوت تحت العناوين الآتية: الفصل الأول: ملامح الحياة الإجتماعية في الشعر الصقلي، الفصل الثاني: الطبيعة في الشعر الصقلي، الفصل الثالث: الغزل في الشعر الصقلي، الفصل الرابع: الشعر السياسي في عصري الطوائف والنورمان، الفصل الخامس: المدح ومبادلاته في الأغراض المقابلة، والفصل السادس والأخير: خصائص البنية الأسلوبية في نماذج من الشعر الصقلي.
