وبالتالي أصبحت الشركات المتعددة الجنسيات تعد بمثابة الحكومة الكونية Global Government كما أضحت تلك الشركات تتحكم في موارد طبيعية هائلة وتسيطر مباشرة على أهم النشاطات الإقتصادية في كل المجتمعات في العالم، وقد دفع تعاظم نفوذ هذه الشركات إلى خلق نوع قوي من المزج بين الوحدات الإنتاجية والمؤسسات المالية والمصرفية العالمية على الصعيد العالمي.
وتعد الشركات متعددة الجنسية قوة هائلة في الإقتصاد العالمي المعولم، وتمارس عملها من خلال شبكة معقدة من الهياكل التنظيمية وتنخرط في عمليات الإنتاج الدولي وفق نظام عالمي متكامل يضع تحت إداراتها ما يناهز ثلث الإنتاج العالمي، كما وتعد الشركات المتعددة الجنسية المحرك الرئيس لظاهرة العولمة التي تمثل المحدد الأساسي لمسار النمو والتنمية في مختلف دول العالم اليوم.
ويمثل ظهور الشركات متعددة الجنسيات الصورة الجديدة لتنظيم النشاط الإقتصادي في الإقتصادات الرأسمالية المتقدمة، حيث أن الشركة متعددة الجنسية أو عبر الوطنية كما تسمى في بعض الأحيان، تمثل التجسيد الحي لظاهرة كوكبة الحياة الإقتصادية، حيث أخذت هذه الشركات تسيطر على العالم، مخترقة كافة مناطق السيادة الوطنية بسلعها، خدماتها، أموالها، تكنولوجياتها، إتصالاتها البعدية، بطاقة إنتمائها وأنماطها الإستهلاكية.
