يشكل هذا الكتاب سيرة ذاتية ومهنية للسيد جعفر محسن الأمين "ولد عام 1908 في بلدته شقرا من جنوب لبنان، وتوفي عام 1981 ودفن فيها" كان شاعراً ومثقفاً وفناناً، متعدد المواهب وعلى غاية من الذوق والظرف والذكاء .. تمتع بروح إنسانية عالية، وكتب عن مختلف فئات وطبقات المنجتمع، في تراثها وعلاقاتها وتقاليدها ومعتقداتها ومشاغلها .. سجل الأمثال الشعبية المتداولة بصدق وأمانة، وترك ديواناً شعرياً مخطوطاً تضمن قصائده وتلك التي تبادلها مع أصدقائه، وخصوصاً مع زميله وصديقه الوفي الشاعر نور الدين بدر الدين. احتفى به وبكوكبة من الشعراء والأدباء "إتحاد الكتّاب اللبنانيين" في قصر الأونيسكو في بيروت العام 2010، باعتباره واحداً من الكتّاب والمبدعين اللبنانيين الذين برزوا في النصف الثاني من القرن العشرين، وأقيمت حوله ندوات متعددة.
هذا الكتاب يجمع أكرم جعفر الأمين ما وقعت عليه يده من تعليقات ومقالات وأبحاث ودراسات وردت في الكتب والصحف والمجلات والندوات وتناولت سيرة والده وإنتاجه الأدبي بالإضافة إلى ما قدمه المشاركون في ندوة إتحاد الكتّاب اللبنانيين حول أعماله الأدبية التي أقامها الإتحاد خلال معرض بيروت للكتاب العربي والدولي في البيال 18/12/2013. وبهذا يكون الكتاب قد ساهم في حفظ الترام الأدبي العاملي عموماً واللبناني خصوصاً.
يضم الكتاب أضواء على سيرة السيد جعفر الأمين وصفحات من سيرته بقلم اكرم الأمين وهاشم الأمين وآراء وشهادات لرفاق دربه: فؤاد كحيل، سلام الراسي، كامل جابر، طلال سلمان وآخرون. كما يضم الكتاب (قرارات في مؤلفاته) شعره ومعاناته ومواقفه، وقصائد وكلمات في رثائه.
