إن هذه الأمة قد إنمازت على بقية الأمم بميزات شتى، وفضائل جسيمة، ومن جملة ما تفضل الله به عليها تخليدها وتخليد احكامها وآدابها، فهيأ لها رجالاً حملوها جيلاً بعد جيل، وجعلهم حماة لها إلى يوم الدين، فتركوا لمن خلفهم تراثاً عظيماً في أصولها وفروعها حتى بلغت مؤلفات علومهم ذروتها وملؤوا خزائن المكتبات بمصنفاتها وكتبوا بمداد علمهم وصرير أقلامهم علوماً غزيرة وحكماً وارفه وفنوناً جمة.
وإن من جملة مآثرهم العلمية ما كنزوا من معلوماتهم في تلك المخطوطات التي اكتظت بها مكتبات الدنيا وخلدتهم وآثارهم أزمنة طويلة، إلا أنه لا يزال معظمها حبيساً عن نور الإنتفاع والإفادة؛ فجاءت النهضة الحديثة لإحيائها وبعثها، وعني أهل العلم والتحقيق بإبرازها والعناية بها، فتأسست مدارس التحقيق بمناهجها وعلمائها.
ولعل من إحدى هذه المدارس إتجاه رجال الدراسات العليا، أساتذة وطلاباً للمساهمة في نشاطها ومسيرة عجلتها؛ ومنهم مؤلف هذا الكتاب الذي إتار هذا السفر المختصر والموجز؛ وذلك من أجل المساهمة في إحياء تراث الأمة لا سيما أصول الفقه؛ عمل التحقيق يلزم الطالب التجوال في أُمَّات المصادر على مختلف الفنون والعلوم لا سيما كتب أصول الفقه؛ إتجاه الكتاب والمؤلفين والباحثين إلى كتابة الموضوعات أو الشخصيات وإهمالهم هذا الجانب العظيم من جوانب العلم والمعرفة؛ إرفاد المكتبة الإسلامية بمصدر مختصر يعد من أهم المصادر المختصرة لأضيف إليها كتاباً آخر إلى جانب شروحه وحواشيه الموجودة فيها؛ إبراز مؤلفه من خلال ترجمته بأحلى أوصافه وخصاله وإن كان قد عرف به قبل بحثي هذا من قبل كثير من المترجمين والمحققين.
وقد جعل على قسمين: القسم الأول: دراسة عن الكتاب وعن مصنفه، والقسم الثاني: نَصُّ المتن محققاً، وجعل القسم الأول مؤلفاً من مبحثين: المبحث الأول: احتوى على دراسة لحياة مؤلفه، وولادته، ووفاته، ومصنفاته، ورحلاته، وعصره الثقافي والسياسي؛ والمبحث الثاني: في دراسة عن الكتاب نفسه تعريفاً به، وبمصادره، وأسلوبه، وترجيحاته، وذكر بعض شروحه ووصف مخطوطاته التي اعتمدتها في تحقيقه؛ والقسم الثاني: جعل المؤلف لتحقيق النص وتوضيح منهجه في التحقيق.
