عرفت له دراسات عديدة حول الجنس والأصولية وتداعيات ذلك على المجمتمع المغربي.
باحث في علم الاجتماع من المغرب أستاذ علم اجتماع بجامعة فاس منذ عام 1977، ومدير "مختبر الدراسات الاجتماعية حول الصحة" بنفس الجامعة.
وهو عضو في هيئة تحرير مجلة Social Compass المتخصصة في علم اجتماع الأديان والصادرة في لندن عن جامعة "لوفان لا نوف" في بلجيكا - Louvain-La-Neuve.
له الكثير من الكتب والمقالات (المنشورة في مجلات دولية متخصصة) باللغات العربية والفرنسية والإنجليزية.
من بين كتبه الأساسية: "المرأة والجنس في المغرب" (1985) "السكن، الجنس والإسلام" (1996) "نسائية، أصولية، صوفية" (1997) "الشباب، السيدا والإسلام" (2000).
أشرف على دراسات منشورة حول الهجرة والطفل والصحة.
وفي مناسبات عدة، عمل كمستشار-خبير لدى هيئات دولية مثل "المنظمة العالمية للصحة" و"المنظمة العالمية للسكان" "والمنظمة العالمية للطفولة"

إن التطور اللامتكافئ للسوسيولوجيا داخل الأقطار العربية يعكس في نهاية التحليل غياب استراتيجية علمية (سوسيولوجية) موحدة. والباحث عبد الصمد الديالمي يحاول في هذا الكتاب تحديد الأطروحات بصدد السوسيولوجيا والتي تبدو له أنها قادرة على تشكيل أرضية موحدة، حيث يلقي عليها الضوء وذلك بهدف الوقوف على إمكانية لتحقيق الوعي بالكيد السوسيولوجي الكامن وراء مظاهر النقد والتمرد وليتمكن العرب في حال قيام وضع سوسيولوجي عالمي جديد أن يشهد مساهمة لهم في شكل استراتيجية موحدة تعمل على فك الارتباط مع مركز التبعية وذلك من خلال انسلاخ فاعل السوسيولوجيا عن تجدراته، وتعاليمه عن مصالحه، ليندمج في انتلجنسيا عربية دون روابط، وذلك بعد تجاوز التجددات البرانية التي تفعل فعلها بشكل لا شعوري مثل الجنس والعائلة والقبيلة والوطن والتي تمنع عالم الاجتماع (الوطني، الانقسامي، الجمالي) من تجاوز ذات سلبية وسالبة، نرجسية.
