في كتابه (الملا عبود الكرضي) يعيد "جميل الجبوري" إحياء هامة من هامات الشعر العراقي وهو الشاعر العراقي "عبود الكرضي" الذي كانت قصائده أغنيات تخفق لها القلوب، وتروى في المحافل، وتهز الناس، وتثير الفزع في قلوب الظالمين.
يضم الكتاب سيرة حياة "عبود الكرضي" المولود عام (1861م) والمتوفي عام (1946). شاعر شعبي عراقي نظم الشعر باللهجة العراقية القريبة للفصحى، فكان شعره وثيقة تاريخية تؤرخ حياة شعب العراق ضمن إطار العصر الذي عاش فيه، ومن هنا جاءت أهمية هذا الشعر. كذلك عدَ النقاد الكرضي (ظاهرة) اجتماعية نسبة إلى شعره الزجلي الشعبي الذي كان دعوة للمحبة والوفاق بين أبناء الشعب، و(ظاهرة) سياسية، تتأتى ذلك من تأييده المخلص للشعوب العربية (محنة سوريا بالإستعمار الفرنسي) و (ثورة الريف على فرنسا) و(وتمجيد لأبطال ثورة العشرين) و(إدانة لمطامع تركيا في لواء الموصل) وهكذا كان الكرضي فارساً في عصره ذخل ابواب الأدب العراقي من أوسع باب وتبوأ مكانة ظلت تذكر ويحتفى بها حتى عند الجيل الحاضر..
يحفَل هذا الكتاب بقصائد متنوعة لا نظير لها منها: المجرشة والكونية والألفية والمحالات وقصائده السياسية والهجائية والغزلية والاجتماعية وغيرها كثير...
من قصيدة بعنوان [هذه الدنيا..!!] اخترنا بعضاً من شذراتها: يقول الكرضي: (كل من تلقاه يشكو من الزمن، ليت شعري هذه الدنيا لمن؟)/ هذه الدنيا أمرها شي عجيب، للسفيه اتحبه واتعادى الأديب/ مع أني شاعر وأفهم لبيب، تخبلت اشبه (رؤوف البلصحن)/ في الحقيقة الفقر يألف للعفيف، معاضده وصاير إله أخ وحليق (...)".
