يتعلق الأمر في هذا العمل بتفكيك جملة القضايا التي نظر فيها الفيلسوف ابن رشد بعين فاحِصة متسلحاً بمنهج برهاني دقيق ورؤية سيَّاسيَّة جليَّة، والتي لم تحظى بالعناية الكافيَّة عند "الرشديِّين المعاصرين"، بحيث لا نجد في كتب السِّيرة ولا في تراجم عصره وبعده كيف عالج قضايا عصره كمفكر ساجَل الخصوم والأعداء، وقاوم الرَّداءة والانحطاط الفكري والمعرفي، ونَظَّر لسيَّاسة واجتماع قرطبة ومراكش. هذا ناهيك عن الحاجة إلى تقويم ما تعرَّضت له آراءه الفكريَّة والمعرفيَّة والسيَّاسيَّة من تحوير وتشويه، للرَّد على دعاة التفكير الأصولي المتزمت الذي يُبخِس من قيمة الفكر الفلسفي العقلاني في مقابل الإعلاء من شأو البلاهة لتحقير العقول.
لا تزال المعارك التي خاضها ابن رشد في مجال الفكر والمعرفة راهنيَّة بكل ما في الكلمة من معنى بالنَّظر إلى درجة الانحطاط الفكري والثقافي الذي ساهمت فيه تيارات "ُتجار الدِّين" لتحقيق مصالح عينيَّة، وسنختار تحديداً موضوعات متصلة ب: الدِّين، الفلسفة، الحياة، الحب، السيَّاسة، المنطق، المرأة، الطب، التسلُّط، الفتنة، الجسد، المُلك، اللَّذة، الكذب، العنف، المساواة... علَّنا نرد بعض الدَّين لابن رشد الفيلسوف العقلاني الذي دشن معركة التنوير من الداخل ضد المتزمتين وأنصار الفكر الأصولي.
ليس غرضنا هنا إعادة كتابة ما تداوله الرُّشديون حول فلسفة وفكر ابن رشد، ولا إعادة التعريف بمتنه من شروحات وتلاخيص وتفاسير التي أنجزها حول فلسفة المعلم الأول أرسطو، وإنما مساءلة ما جاء به في قضايا راهنيَّة عاصرها وتحمل تبعات مواقِفه الجريئة.
