يقدم هذا الكتاب مقاربة تربوية حول فكرة (المواطنة والإنتماء) تركز على الحقوق والواجبات والمسؤولية والقانون، ودور المواطن في البناء والإنتاج وغيره. كما تُعرف الطالب (المواطن) بالعديد من مفاهيم المواطنة وخصائصها، ومقوماتها، وأهدافها وأبعادها، وحتى تكون المواطنة مبنية على وحي لا بد أن تتم بتربية ممنهجة تشرف عليها الدولة والهيئات التعليمية، يساعدها العديد من المؤسسات التربوية، ومنها الأسرة، والمؤسسات الدينية، والرفاق، ومجموعة العمل، وغيرها، لذلك هدفت هذه الدراسة عن (التربية الوطنية) إلى تنمية روح المواطنة، وتشكيل شخصية المواطن وتزويده بالمعرفة والمهارات اللازمة لبناء نفسه ووطنه.
ولتوضيح هذه المعطيات من منظور تربوي جاءت هذه الدراسة لتشرح تلك المفاهيم (المواطنة والإنتماء) في ست وحدات دراسية، حيث تناولت الوحدة الأولى مفاهيم المواطنة وخصائصها، أما في الوحدة الثانية فقد تم تناول حقوق المواطن وواجباته، وأحاطت الوحدة الثالثة بمفهوم "المواطنة الفاعلة" ووسائل تنميتها. وفي الوحدة الرابعة تم استعراض تجارب بعض الدول المتقدمة والدول في الخليج العربي في محاول لاستظهار تجربتها في تعليم وتنمية المواطنة، وفي الوحدة الخامسة تم تناول تاريخ الدولة الأردنية واستعراض المحطات المضيئة في تاريخ الملوك الهاشميون. وأخيراً في الوحدة السادسة تم الكشف عن وثائق ومبادرات أردنية تم إنجازها في عهد الهاشمية سعياً للوصول بالمواطن والوطن الأردني إلى الإلتحام بالوطن وإعلاء شأنه والوصول به إلى مصاف الدول المتقدمة.
