من الواضح أن الشاعر بسام أبو غزالة لم يجد أفضل من قالب الرباعيات لبثّ تأملاته الفلسفية والوجودية، وكذلك أفكاره السياسية، فهذا القالب يتيح له تقديم تأملاته بعبارة شعرية مكثفة، موسيقاها سلسة، يتذوقها الناس من مختلف المشارب.
تأملات الدكتور أبو غزالة، هي تأملات فلسفية وجودية، تظهر فيها الملامح الصوفية كثيرا. فهو يتأمل في الحياة الفانية: لم يعد بيني وبين الصفر بابْ / يا خليليَّ على الدرب الطويلْ / فاحملا عني تباريح الحسابْ / واتركا لي خلوةً بين الطلول.
تلك الحياة الفانية هي قيد وأسـر، والحرية فيها وهم، لذلك هو يرجو العبور إلى زمان آخر: ضاق بي أسري وأفناني انعتاقي / أعبر الأرض ولا أعدو مكاني / أين لي صهوةُ مهرٍ كالبراق / يخلبُ العينَ ويجتاز زماني؟
