يُعتبَر خاتم المرسلين سيدنا محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم الإنسان الأكمل، وكل واحد من الرسل والأنبياء والأقطاب وكمّل العارفين، إنسان كامل، فهم مظاهر للكمال المحمدي الجامع، ولكل واحد منهم مكانته ووظيفته في الإنسجام الوجودي المطلق.
وقد فصّل الشيخ الأكبر محيي الدين ابن العربي، خصوصيات الكمال المحمدي من حيث الظاهر والباطن بكيفيات غير مسبوقة، وكل الذين جاؤوا بعده لم يضيفوا على ما فصّله أموراً جديدة ذات أهمية بارزة، رغم الأصالة والعمق الكبير في العديد من كتب ونصوص وصلوات بعض أكابر العارفين.
وحقيقة "الإنسان الكامل" عندهم ليست فكرة بشرية خضعت للتطور، ولا عقيدة ثانوية أو هامشية من عقائد الدين، وإنما هي - ككل حقائق العرفان السامي - حقيقة وجودية "فوق الزمان"، ومساقطها عبر تاريخ البشر في الأرض تتمثل في سلسلة الأنبياء والرسل والخلفاء الربانيين والأقطاب؛ وعلى مدارها يجري تاريخ الإنسانية، بل صيرورة الوجود بكاملة مرتبطة بها من الأزل إلى الأبد.
ومفاهيم هؤلاء العارفين حول الحقائق الوجودية، ليست - كما يزعمه الباحثون المحدثون - نتيجة أفكار، ولا إقتباسات ممّن سبقوا، وإنما هي نتيجة سلوك شرعي، وتحقق عرفاني روحاني، وفتح رباني في الفهم في القرآن الكريم والحديث النبوي الشريف، الذي خص به الحق - تعالى - من شاء من أوليائه الذين وفقهم لحقيقة التقوى، ومكنهم في معارج الإحسان، وعلّمهم من لدنه علماً.
والغرض من هذا الكتاب هو جمع أهم نصوص الشيخ الأكبر في هذين الموضوعين: موضوع الكمال المحمدي الأخص، والكمال العام الذي يتحقق به غيره من الكمّل، وترتيبها، مع بعض التنبيهات أو الشروح الضرورية.
