ما تسعى إليه هذه الدراسة هو الإشارة للدور الذي لعبته البعثات العسكرية العراقية في الجيوش العربية، وتحديداً تتحدث عن البعثات التي أعقبت البعثة الأولى إلى اليمن الشمالي والجنوبي وكذلك البعثات العسكرية العراقية إلى كل من المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية وليبيا وأرتيريا، والسودان والصومال ولبنان وفلسطين وجيبوتي وتونس والمملكة العربية السعودية وعمان وغيرها.
وهكذا توزعت مواد هذه الدراسة على ستة فصول هي كالتالي: الفصل الأول يتضمن البعثات العسكرية إلى اليمن وهي سبع بعثات، الأولى كانت عام 1940-1943م والأخيرة كانت عام 1989-990م. الفصل الثاني: ويتضمن البعثات العسكرية إلى ليبيا وهي خمس بعثات، الأولى كانت عام 1953-1954م والأخيرة كانت عام 1990م.
الفصل الثالث: ويتضمن البعثات العسكرية في المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية وهي ثلاث بعثات، الأولى كانت عام 1957-1958م والأخيرة كانت عام 1989م. الفصل الرابع: ويتضمن البعثات العسكرية إلى الجمهورية الإسلامية الموريتانية، الأولى كانت عام 1980، والأخيرة كانت عام 1981م.
الفصل الخامس: ويتضمن البعثات العسكرية إلى جمهورية السودان وهي ثلاث بعثات الأولى كانت عام 1976 وآخرها كانت عام 1990م. الفصل السادس ويتضمن البعثات العسكرية المختلفة إلى الدول العربية ولإسناد وتدريب الحركات الثورية في الوطن العربي ضد الاستعمار الأجنبي وبعضها لتبادل الخبرات بين الجيوش العربية وتضم (مصر، سوريا، الجزائر، تونس، المغرب، عمان، السعودية، الصومال، ارتيريا، لبنان، فلسطين).
تتضمن المعلومات عن كل بعثة عسكرية عراقية ما يأتي وبحسب المتيسر من المعلومات: 1-موجز عن الدولة العربية والمعلومات الإضافية التي سجلتها البعثة عنها. 2-تشكيل البعثة ومهمتها وتاريخ سفرها وعودتها. 3-أعمال البعثة ونشاطاتها المفصلة والمعوقات التي واجهتها إن وجدت. 4-الانطباع الذي تركته تلك البعثة في ذلك البلد على المستوى الرسمي والشعبي والعسكري. 5-التكريم وكتب الشكر التي حصلت عليها البعثات العسكرية في تلك الدول. 6-الملاحق عن نشاطات البعثة العسكرية العراقية.
