هذا كتاب "الإشارات والتنبيهات في علم البلاغة: المعاني والبيان والبديع" لمحمد بن علي بن محمد الجرجاني، حيث تميز المؤلف في كتابه هذا بالاستقصاء، فلم يترك شاردة أو واردة، من مسائل البلاغة، إى عرضها عرضاً مفصلاً ودقيقاً، وملماً فيها بالآراء كافة، سواء التي كانت في عصره أو قبل عصره.
والكتاب يعد من أمهات كتب البلاغة، لما له من شأن عظيم في تصحيح المفاهيم البلاغية، وترسيخ قواعدها، وتحليل أساليبها، فإن المؤلف لم يكتف بعرض المسائل البلاغية عرضاً وافياً ومبسطاً، بل ذيل مسالة من المسائل التي يجد فيها خللاً فأبرز الوهم الذي وقع فيه غيره، وناقشه ثم ينبه إلى الصواب.
وبالنظر لأهمية هذا الكتاب فقد اهتم "إبراهيم شمس الدين" بتحقيقه فاعتنى بـ: أولاً: وضع ترجمة للمؤلف، ثانياً: وضع مقدمة في علم البلاغة وفنونه، ثالثاً: بذل ما أمكن من الجهد في مقابلة ومقارنة النصوص الذي ناقشها المؤلف، مع المتقدمين لكي يعالجها ويدلي فيها بدلوه. مثل عبد القاهر الجرجاني في "أسرار البلاغة" والزمخشري في "الكشاف" والسكاكي في "مفتاح العلوم" وغيرهم.
رابعاً: شرح في حواشي الكتاب ما في متنه من غريب اللغة أو صعب المتناول منها، وذلك استناداً إلى المعاجم اللغوية المشهورة. خامساً: وضع في حواشي الكتاب تعريفاً وافياً-مع ذكر المراجع والمصادر-بجميع الأعلام والكتب والمؤلفات. سادساً: خرج جميع الأحاديث النبوية والآثار، تخريجاً وافياً، وضبط نص الحديث استناداً إلى كتب الحديث المعتبرة. سابعاً: خرج جميع الآيات القرآنية الكريمة على المعجم المفهرس لألفاظ القرآن الكريم. ثامناً: وضع بحور الشعر لجميع الشواهد الشعرية. تاسعاً: خرج الشواهد الشعرية في مظانها.
