"مَا بَحَثْتُ عَنْها حتَّى وَجَدْتُها وَعِنْدَما وَجَدْتُها وَبَدَأْت مَعَها فَقَدْتُها... دونَ وَداعٍ. هِيَ سُخْرِيَةُ الحُب، نَبْحَثُ عَنْهُ فَلا نَجِدَه، وَعِنْدَما نَنْشَغِلُ عَنْهُ يُسْقُطُ بَيْنَ أَحْضانِنا، وَلِفِرْطِ سَعادَتِنا بِهِ نُقَدِّمُ كُلَّ أَشْكالِ السَّذاجَةِ ـ وَيُسَمّى حِيناً طِيبَةً ـ وَجوعَ المَشاعِرِ وَتَعَطُّشِ الأَحاسيسِ المُحْتَضِرَة وَكُل الحُبَ لِنُدْرِكَ بَعْضَهُ... أَمّا هِي! فَتُقَدّمُ كُلّ ما تَمْلِكْ مِنْ قَسْوَةٍ وَجَفاءٍ وَظُلْمٍ لِتَتْرُكَ جُلُهْ وَتَنْسَحِبَ بِصَمْتٍ مِنْ غَيْرِ وَداعٍ وَتَقْتُلُهُ وَتَدْفِنُهُ سِراً مِثلَ جُثمَانِ عُثمَان".
