يندرج هذا البحث في سياق الإهتمام بالرواية العربية عموماً، والمصرية خاصة، من خلال دراسة تحليلية للأعمال الروائية والقصصية لبهاء طاهر، الكاتب الذي لم يأخذ حقَه من البحث والتعريف.
تقع هذه الدراسة في فصول أربع، مسبوقة بتمهيد أما الفصل الأوَل فيتعرَض إلى نشأة التكوين الإبداعي لدى بهاء طاهر متضمنة سيرته الذاتية، وآراءه النقدية.
أما الفصل الثالث، فقد خصَص لرواية " الحب في المنفى" لإجماع معظم النقاد على أنها تشكَل ذروة تجربته الإبداعية في الرواية.
الفصل الرابع، خصَص لتحليل نماذج من نتاجه الأدبي في القصة القصيرة مسبوقاً بتمهيد، فتمَ تناول خمس من تلك القصص بالتحليل تبعاً التسلسل الزمني لتأليفها في محاولة لرصد الإختلافات في المضامين وفي أدوات التعبير الفنية التي حكمت بنيتها. أما القصص فهي بالتتابع؛ "الأب" 1964، "المظاهرة"1966، "الخطوبة 1968، "بجوار أسماك ملونة" 1970، "أنا الملك جئت" 1985.
وفي خاتمة البحث، قراءة إستنتاجية عامة لأهمَ الملامح الفنية الإبداعية التي تفرّد بها بهاء طاهر خلال تجربته الأدبية.
