يعيد الشاعر خالد زين الدين الألق لشعر الغزل العربي، لا من حيث هو شعر هوى، بل من حيث هو شعر وفاء ومشاعر نبيلة، رومانسية الطابع، يقولها في (زهرة الثلج) فحب الشاعر ليس عابراً إنما هو عشق إزلي لا ينفصل عن ذاته وشديد الإلتصاق به، كما يبدي لنا ذلك من خلال شِعره وشوقه إلى تلك الحورية التي ذاب فؤاده بحبها.
يقول الشاعر في القصيدة المعنونة (ذاب / الفؤاد): "حورية تسكبُ الأطياب ألواناً... تُروي غليلاً ليبقى القلب نشوانا"... "فتسكر الروح، والأوصال عاشقةٌ... تهوى الوصال، وكأس الحبُ، ملآنا"... "من ثغرها لمعة الأزهار رائعة... كم تُفرح النفس بالألوان تبيانا"... "فيسمع اللحنُ وصلاً رائقاً لبقاً... ليجذب السمع إطراءً وألحاناً"...
بهذه الشعرية العالية الأداء، واللغة ذات المدلولات العميقة، والخيال الذي وظفه الشاعر لبناء صورٍ فنية يتناسب مع موضوع المرأة / الحبيبة، يكتب زين الدين، وكأنه يقول أن الرجل لا يتحقق وجوده ولا يكتمل إلا بالحب للآخر (المرأة).
يضم الديوان قصائد في الشعر العربي الموزون والمقفى توزعت في الكتاب على خمسة عناوين رئيسية هي: الفصل الأول: غزل، الفصل الثاني: خواطر، الفصل الثالث: ست قصائد في الأم، الفصل الرابع: متفرقات، الفصل الخامس: هجاء.
