إن هذا الكتاب الذي كتبه الأستاذ نزار السامرائي الذي يصنف تحت عنوان "أدب الأسر"، فإننا نرى فيه ما هو أكثر من الأدب، وأكثر من مذكرات شخصية.
إنه بانوراما هائلة من المخزون الإنساني في مناحٍ عديدة من الحياة، فرغم تنويه الكاتب في بداية الكتاب إلى أنه لا يؤرخ لمرحلة تاريخية، بل يكتب مذكرات إنسان رمت به الأقدار في سجون الأسر الإيرانية، فإن التاريخ والجغرافيا، والتحليل السياسي، وتصوير المشاعر الإنسانية بقوتها وضعفها، عناصر تتزاحم في الكتاب، مما يجعل القارئ يحار في تصنيفه بين التاريخ والجغرافيا، والأدب، وعلم النفس، والمذكرات الشخصية.
ما أشبه هذا الكتاب بمسرحية بطلها شخص واحد، لكنه يستطيع أن يستولي على إيقاع التشويق في نفس القارئ والمشاهدين حتى النهاية دون كلل أو ملل، بحيث يجعلك تقرأ مجريات هذه "المذكرات/ التاريخ" بنهم شديد حتى تنتقل من واقعة إلى أخرى مدفوعاً بحب الفصول متسائلاً "ماذا سيحدث؟ ماذا بعد؟"...
أما في الجانب الإنساني فقد استطاع الكاتب أن يقدم صوراً تعجز أجهزة التكنولوجيا الحديثة عن إلتقاطها، لأنها صور من داخل النفس الإنسانية، تسبر أغوارها، وتصف بدقة وشفافية كل إنفعالاتها في ضعفها وقوتها.
ولا نستطيع أن تقفز عن قضية وظفتها هذه المذكرات بشكل واضح، وهي الوطن بوصفه قيمة إنسانية متغلغلة في شخصية الفرد، لا مكاناً فقط ذا العالم جغرافية محددة، توجه آماله وتصرفاته حيال الآخرين، وخصوصاً عندما يكون هذا الإنسان في وضع حرج تطبق عليه الهموم والرزايا، فيتشبث بهذه القيمة العالية وكأنها حبل النجاة الوحيد الذي يمتد إليه في هذه الظروف العصبية.
