يوري لوتمان: ولد عام 1922, في بتروغراد. يشغل منصب بروفسور في تارتو, المركز الها لعلم السيمياء في جمهورية استونيا. تخصص بداية في الأدب الروسي, تأثر بأعمال الشكلانيين وألف أعمالاً كثيرة لم تلق حقها من الاطلاع في الدول الناطقة بالفرنسية حيث لم يترجم له سوى بنية النص الفني, وأبحاث في أنظمة العلامات.
