يُعد كتاب " بنية النص الفني " من القراءات التي تتنزّل في إطار المقاربات السيميائية التي تتصدى لظاهرة " النص " بالمعنى السيميائي الواسع ، ولذلك نجد أن الكتاب يقدم مقاربات عميقة لمفهمة الممارسات الفنية ( الشعر ، السرد ، الصورة ، الفيلم ) في محيطها السيميائي – الثقافي ، وهو بذلك يتجاوز القراءة البنائية المغلقة التي تكتفي بالبحث عن البُنى المجردة في الأجناس الأدبية والفنية .
يوري ميخائيلوفيتش لوتمان ( 1922 – 1993 ) منظّر معروف في إطار مدرسة تارتو السيميائية للثقافة التي يعتبر من مؤسسيها الأوائل . وشغل فيها منصب رئيس قسم تاريخ الأدب الروسي من عام 1960 ولغاية 1977 .
