أجناس التجنيس كتاب ألفه الثعالبي للأمير أبي المظفر نصر بن ناصر الدين سبكتكين عند توليه جيوش خراسان، ومعنى ذلك أن تأليفه كان في إحدى سنوات العقد الأخير من القرن الرابع الهجري.
وقد يوحي عنوان الكتاب بأنه يقع في إطار المكتبة البلاغية، ولكن مادته تقرر أنه كتاب في الاختيارات النثرية والشعرية، وإن منهج تصنيف الاختيارات المودعة فيه قائم على تقسيمات البلاغيين لبعض أنواع الجناس، فهو مبنى على ثلاثة أقسام مبوبة: قسم يضم أبواب الاختيارات التي تتضمن جناساً يشبه التصحيف، وقسم يضم أبواب الاختيارات التي تتضمن جناساً تاماً لا تختلف فيه الكلمتان المتجانستان إلا بضبط البنية أو برسم الحرف، وقسم يضم أبواب الاختيارات التي تتضمن جناساً تاماً لفظاً وبنية وخطاً .
وبين يدينا طبعة محققة من هذا الكتاب حيث اهتم المحقق أولاً: بتقديم النص كما هو في النسخة الأم وضبط مفرداته وعدم التدخل في متنه إلا في زيادة مفردات أو تغيير مفردات توضح الهوامش بواعث القناعة العلمية بزيادتها أو تغييرها.
ثانياً: الرجوع إلى المتيسر من المصادر -لا سيما كتب الثعالبي نفسه- فضلاً عن الضروري من المصادر الأخرى لتخريج النصوص ومقابلتها وتوخي المحقق من تلك المصادر تحقيقاً علمياً ما تهيأ ذلك.
ثالثاً: تقديم تراجم موجزة للمغمورين وأشباه المعمورين من الأعلام بصيغة التعريف والإحالة على مصادر الترجمة.
رابعاً: شرح المفردات الغربية لا سيما المفردات التي يقوم الجناس عليها في النص المروي ما كانت بحاجة إلى شرح، فضلاً عن تعريف ما كان بحاجة إلى تعريف من أسماء مدن أو مواضع أو ما أشبه.
خامساً: عرض الأشعار الواردة في الكتاب على بحور الخليل وإثبات بحر كل نص قبل روايته بين عضادتين.
