الفتنة الطائفية بين المسلمين اليوم حقيقة قائمة على وجه الأرض، لا يمكن تجاهلها، ولا يجوز التغاضي عنها، ولا يصح التسامح معها؛ هذه الفتنة قائمة في كل زمان، وقلما يتفق أن يخلو عنها زمان، ولكنها اليوم تختلف من أي وقت مضى في تاريخنا المعاصر على الأقل.
إن الفتنة الطائفية اليوم تتفجر في العراق، وباكستان، وأفغانستان، وأقاليم أخرى من العالم الإسلامي أكثر من أي وقت آخر، وتتسبب في مذابح وحرائق وإنتهاك للحرمات وتكفير المسلمين من أهل القبلة وأهل "لا إله إلا الله" من غير ذنب.
وإن كل الجهود التي بذلها علماء المسلمين من الشيعة والسنّة خلال هذا القرن للتقريب بين المسلمين يتعرض لتهديد وخطر حقيقيين، لهذا تحدث الكاتب في هذا المقال عن هذه الفتنة في ثلاث نقاط: 1-آثار هذه الفتنة على حاضر العالم الإسلامي ومستقبله، 2-أسباب الفتنة وخلفياتها، 3-علاجها ومكافحتها؛ وفيما يلي مرور سريع، لغرض التنبيه والتذكير بهذه النقاط الثلاث.
