تعني إسلامية المعرفة شيئاً أكثر من مجرد التجديد الديني المعاصر أو الرؤية الكونية التوحيدية وهي تهدف إلى الوقوف بوجه دعاوى العولمة البراجماتية الفردية الأدائية، وضد الصراعات الطبقية والانقسامات الاجتماعية وضد الأصولية اللاهوتية وتطلعاتها الثيوقراطية. وهي تتجه للإنسان الحر الذي هو (قاعدة) إسلامية المعرفة منه تنطلق وتخوض به معركتها.
وبما أن لكل عصر ضوابطه المعرفية ومحدداته العامة لموجهات التفكير التي تصقل مناهجه، فإن معرفتنا المعاصرة تتطلب منهجاً يجمع بين الاستدلال والاستقراء، ولكي يتم ذلك اللقاء المنهجي تبرز الحاجة لعقل علمي معرفي معاصر يتجاوز الوضعية ويتجاوز اللاهويتة معاً ولن يكون هذا العقل كما يرى المؤلف ألا عقلاً كونياً يستطيع التعامل وبمنطق التركيب العلمي مع كون لا متناه في الكبر ولا متناه في الصغر.
إن الكاتب يدعو في صفحات هذا الكتاب إلى البدء بدراسة القرآن كوحي كتابي معادل ومكافئ للوجود الكوني المطلق وحركته، وإسلامية المعرفة هي بحث لعلاقة الجدلية التي تربط ما بين الغيب الإلهي والإنسان والطبيعة وهي علاقات تداخل وليست علاقة تضاد.
