"تتمحور معظم الدراسات المعرفية التي تتناول قضايا الفكر العلمي المعاصر، حول الإبستيمولوجيا. فقد ورد هذا المصطلح في عدة لغات مع بعض الاختلاف في مفهومه، مما أدى إلى صعوبة تعريفه وتحديد ملامحه في صورة نهائية.
إذاً لم تكتسب الإبستيمولوجيا صيغتها النهائية بعد لأنها مازالت مشتّتة بين جذورها الفلسفية من جانب وبين علاقتها المباشرة الحالية مع العلم من جانب آخر.
إلا أنه منذ قرن من الزمان تقريباً تحاول الإبستيمولوجيا، شيئاً فشيئاً، أن تستقل عن الفلسفة وأن تصبح علماً متميزاً ينأى بنتائجه عن الجدل الفلسفي صابغاً إياها بصفتي الموضوعية والعمومية.
فإذا نظرنا إلى الإبستيمولوجيا في علاقتها بالعلم فإننا نجد أنها عبارة عن نشاط من مستوى أعلى، موضوعه العلم نفسه. فهي عبارة عن تفكير في العلم، إلا أن بعض التحفظات قد فرضت نفسها.
فالتفكير في العلم لا يكون بالضرورة تفكيراً فلسفياً، كما إنه لا يعني بالضرورة عدم التقيد بالمتطلبات العلمية، إنه قابل للانضمام والتكامل مع العلم نفسه.
فنحن لا نستطيع أن نطلب بعدم الخلط بين التفكير حول العلم (الإبستيمولوجيا) الذي يسعى شيئاً فشيئاً إلى الاستقلال عن الفلسفة وفلسفة هذا العلم التي تتخذ من موضوع هذا العلم مجالاً لدراستها إلا بطريقة عامة غامضة.
لذلك حاولنا إلقاء الضوء على الإبستيمولوجيا بوصفها أحد ميادين المعرفة، ومشكلاتها، وعلاقاتها وأهدافها...
وقد جاء عرضنا علمياً، تاريخياً وواضحاً، يصب بمجمله في ميدان المعرفة؛ بهدف تطوير الوعي الإنساني وتوسيع ثقافته".
