هذا كتاب مختصر في مناهج المحدثين تم تأليفه حسب الخطة المقررة في قسم السُّنَّةِ وعلومها في كلية الشريعة والدراسات الإسلامية بجامعة القصيم.
وكان الداعي لتأليفه حاجة طلاب تخصص الدراسات الإسلامية بكلية الشريعة في جامعة القصيم، لعدم وجود كتاب يوافق منهجهم ويفي بالغرض المطلوب، فتمت كتابة هذا المختصر تسهيلاً لفهمه، وإعانة على إستيعابه وإدراكه، وقد أسميناه بــ "مناهج المحدثين دراسة نظرية تطبيقية"، ليجمع بين الدراسة النظرية والتطبيق العملي في كتاب واحد، وذلك في أن الخطة المقررة مطلوب ضمنها ذكر بعض الأحاديث التي تبين منهج المحدث في كتابه.
وخطة هذا الكتاب تشتمل على: مقدمة وتمهيد وثلاثة فصول وخاتمة.
