Book Description
قام المؤلفان بدراسة نقدية لمصطلحات الحاسب الآلي التي وردت في سبعة عشر معجماً للحاسب الآلي وفي بعض قوائم المصطلحات وبعض المجلات الصادرة في هذا الحقل.
تمّ الاكتفاء بشكل عام بالكلمة الأساسية في المداخل التي تتكرر فيها تلك الكلمة. مثلاً كلمات مثل file وprotection وstorage ولكنها لم تشمل: file protection أو file storage إلخ. وقد بلغ عدد المصطلحات التي شملتها الدراسة حوالي 800 مصطلح.
وقد لاحظنا وجود فروق كبيرة بين المعاجم في طريقة تناول المصطلحات، فقد اكتفى اثنان من المؤلفين بشرح معظم المصطلحات دون ذلك الترجمة للمصطلح نفسه، وخلت بعض المعاجم من مصطلحات مهمة مثل: chip, create, cursor, default, diskette, dot matrix, edit, escape, log (in/out), menu, pixel, prompt, scroll, space bar, sperad sheet, word processing, word wrap.
ويضم الكتاب قائمة بالمصطلحات التي وردت في ثلاث صور مختلفة أو أكثر لمساعدة الباحثين والمؤلفين في حقل الحاسب الآلي في اختيار ما يرونه مناسباً من البدائل المتوافرة.
