يبين فائدة الإلمام بعلم الصرف، وأخطاء البعض في مسائله, ويبين أن التصريف وثيق الصلة بالنحو واللغة فهما يتجاذبانه. وفي التصريف والنحو مسائل لا يمكن فصل أحدها عن الآخر. ويبين الكتاب كل من: الأسماء المجردة والمزيدة، الأسماء الجامدة والمشتقة، مصادر الثلاثي وغير الثلاثي، مصادر المرة والهيئة والمصدر الميمي, اسم الفاعل، اسم المفعول، الصفة المشبهة، اسم التفضيل، اسما الزمان والمكان، أسماء الآلة. ثم يفصل القول عن المصدر فيذكر مصادر الفعل الثلاثي ثم مصادر الفعل غير الثلاثي. اسم الفاعل واسم المفعول. ويحتوي الكتاب في نهايته على أسئلة وتمرينات من كتاب هداية الطالب للشيخ أحمد مصطفى المراغي أستاذ اللغة العربية بمدرسة دار العلوم سابقاً.
