إن هذا البحث، بما يتميز به من أسلوب علمي مبسط، ليكون في متناول القراء وطلال الجامعات والمهتمين بموضوعات الاقتصاد العربي، وليساهم في تعزيز الوعي الجماهيري، هو محاولة في ثلاث خطوات رئيسية للتعرف على مسيرة المشروعات العربية المشتركة في إطار التنمية العربية.
فالخطوة الأولى تبحث في نظرية التكامل الاقتصادي وتجاربه الدولية، تمهيداً للولوج في التجربة العربية للفترة منذ إنشاء الجامعة العربية (19045) ولغاية صدور القراءات الاقتصادية لمؤتمر القمة العربي (1980).
وبعد دراسة الأسس الفكرية للمشروعات المشتركة في الخطوة الثانية، وما أفرزتها التطبيقات الدولية من أنماط متعددة لها، فإن الخطوة الأخيرة تنصب على تجربة المشروعات العربية، بمعالمها الرئيسية وجوانبها لنقل البترول، والتي كشفت نتائجها عن خطورة المشكلات التي تواجه هذه المشروعات عموماً، وجدية المعالجات التي تتطلبها، لتعلب دورها الفعال في مسيرة الوحدة العربية.
