بملامح مذعورة أسقطت الغجرية الكف من يدها وتناولت حقيبتها المزينة بالزخارف والنقوش والودع. فأخرجت حصاها ناثرة إياه على المفرش، لحية ضاري تهتز مثل كناري على أملود، نشرت الغجرية ما بقلبها من رهبة وذعر إلى أعضائه وشبكات أعصابه. ست حصوات، ألوانها الأزرق والأبيض والأسود. حصوات ملساء من طول احتكاكها بالأصابع، شعرها ضاري تتنفس. ترمقه بأطراف مليئة بالوعيد. كثياً ما رأى قارئي كف ودراويش وبصارين وعيارين يمتهنون هذه المهنة. لكنه لم يصادف واحداً عارفاً ببواطن الأمور، مدلاً على الأحداث، مشيراً لما تضمره الأرواح كهذه الغجرية. شعر وكان كل كلمة تنطق بها منفوخة بالمعاني والرموز. وما قالته سيتحقق لا محالة.
خضت الغجرية الحصى طويلاً ثم رمته على المفرش.
