وما يميز هذه المشاغل، بوجه عام في هذه الشذرات المعالم، وفي المحاضرات، هو الحرص الشديد على وضع الأسس المعرفية الإبيستيمية لقيام علم اللغة وإيجاده بإزاء العلوم الإنسانية، كأن علم اللغة، بعد هذه القرون الطويلة، مع النحاة الهنود والإغريق، والرومان والعرب، لم يتأسس كعلم مستقل.
