تشكّل دراسة تطوّر البنية المجتمعية في الجنوب اللبناني بين 1943-1975 مدخلاً ضرورياً لفهم الخلفية التاريخية لتطوّر مؤسسات المجتمع المدني الحديث في لبنان عموماً، والجنوب اللبناني خصوصاً، ما يجعل من هذه الدراسة مرتكزاً أساسياً لفهم وتحليل الحراك الاجتماعي والسياسي بعد الاستقلال، لما تشكّله من أرضية موضوعية وعلمية لفهم الظواهر الاجتماعية والسياسية، الأمر الذي يقودنا إلى الوصول إلى الأسباب الكامنة وراء ظهور تلك الحركات من أحزاب متنوعة، ونقابات متعددة، والمدى الذي لعبته تلك البنية المجتمعية في الحدّ من نجاحها، وصيرورتها إطاراً للتغيير الشامل على أسس الدولة الديموقراطية الحديثة، في ظل متغيرات جديّة، طرأت على بنية الجنوب اللبناني الاقتصادية- الزراعية، وما أفرزته من آثار في بنيته الاجتماعية التقليدية بين 1943– 1975.
