…أبعدت ثريا أوراق الأشجار الصفراء المتساقطة، جلست القرفصاء، وبدأت إخراج الصور. لا تليق الألوان بالصور؛ كانت صورنا أجمل بكثير حين كانت بالأبيض والأسود. كلما التقطت ثريا صورة تخيلت والدتنا وهي تودعها. كنا في الصور في غاية السعادة، ولا أذكر أننا تظاهرنا مرة واحدة بالسعادة أو افتعلنا ابتسامة؛ كنا حقاً سعداء ونبتسم للكاميرا. ومن دون "بوزات" تبدو اللقطات في غاية الجمال. نعيد الآن التقاط الصورة ألف مرة ومرة لنوفق في صورة، لكن جميع الصور المطبوعة تبدو رائعة فعلاً. الأغبياء الذين اخترعوا الكاميرات الرقمية دمروا عالماً رائعاً من الصور المطبوعة. لا شيء في العالم أجمل من اجتماع العائلة حول صندوق الصور؛ نرى الصورة ألف مرة كأننا نراها لأول مرة. ولا تكاد صورة تفتح حديثاً شائقاً طويلاً حتى تطرق صورة أخرى باب ذكريات إضافية. لكن أبناءنا لن يلعبوا هذه اللعبة؛ لن يكون لديهم "كرتونة" صور. لن يحملوا صورة ويتنقلوا بين الجالسين في الصالون ليسمعوا منهم أخباراً لطيفة عمّن في الصورة ويضحكوا جميعاً.
