إن من دواعي الكتابة حول سيرة الإمام علي بن محمد الهادي هو إثارة موضوع هام في حياتنا اليومية يرتبط بمعاناة المصلحين المخلصين مع الحاكم، والتي يجب أن يتوقف وتزول من الواقع، ليمارس كل مصلح دوره المطلوب داخل الأمة، وما يمليه عليه دينه، ووجدانه، وضميره دون خوف أو تردد، وهو أحد معاني الحرية التي نادى بها الإسلام.
أما التستر على أخطاء الحاكم، بحجة أنه خليفة، وظل الله في الأرض، فهذا ما لا يرضاه دين، ولا يقبله عقل، ولا يستسيغه عرف.
لهذا كان حديثنا مسهباً عن سيرة الإمام الهادي الذي عاصر أربعة من حكام بني العباس في فترة عدت من أشد الفترات جوراً على الشيعة الإمامية.
لقد واجه الإمام عليه السلام القمع، ومارس دور الإصلاح والبناء، في أجواء الكبت والرقابة، والإقامة الجبرية التي امتدت إلى عشرين عاماً أو تزيد قليلاً.
وهي نموذج رائع لما يجب أن يقوم به الداعية والمصلح، الذي يختار الظرف المناسب ليقول كلمته، ويحافظ على الرعية من التصفية والبطش، مع أنه لا راد لقضاء الله لكن الحكمة مطلوبة دائماً في القول والعمل.
وفي الوقت ذاته يضرب المثل والقدوة في سلوكياته ومناقبه، وفي علمه وكراماته، وفي سخائه وعطائه، وفي تبتله وانقطاعه لربه، وهو الحافظ لدين الله، الساعي لنشر كلمته العليا.
هذا ما أردت قوله في صفحات هذا الكتاب.
