هذا الكتاب الذي نقدمه إلى العلماء الباحثين في الأخبار والأحاديث المروية عن أهل البيت رضي الله عنهم، هو الكتاب الحادي عشر من موسوعتنا الكبيرة (مسانيد أهل البيت) سلام الله عليهم.
وهو يأتي تحت عنوان مسند الإمام الهادي أبي الحسن علي بن محمد عليهما السلام، حيث بحث في حياة الإمام أبي الحسن الثالث عليه السلام وما جرى بينه والخلفاء المعاصرين له وفضائله ومناقبه وأخباره وأحاديثه الواردة في العقائد والأحكام والآداب والسنن، ومادته تمثل خلاصة لما خطته المصادر المعروفة والمصنفات المشهورة عند علماء الإمامية رضوان الله عليهم عند هذا الإمام والتي عليه المدار في القرون والأعصار، وروايات الهادي عليه السلام قليلة بالنسبة إلى أحاديث آبائه عليهم السلام لأنه كان مقيماً بسر من رأى تحت مراقبة الحكومة العباسية ولم يتيسر له نشر العلوم والمعارف الإلهية حتى توفي هناك.
ثم أن الرواة يعتبرون عنه بأسماء مختلفة عند نقل الحديث ويروون عنه بعنوان أبي الحسن الهادي، أبي الحسن الثالث، أبي الحسن الأخير، أبي الحسن العسكري، الرجل، الطيب، الأخير، الصادق ابن الصادق، الفقيه العسكري والمقصود منها علي بن محمد عليهما السلام وذلك للتقية أو لعلل أخرى.
وبالعودة لمتن هذا الكتاب نجد أنه قد جاء مرتباً على ثلاثة أقسام: القسم الأول: حياة الإمام أبي الحسن عليه السلام وفضائله ومناقبه والنص على إمامته وما وقه بينه والخلفاء وشهادته وأولاده وإخوانه. القسم الثاني: الأخبار والأحاديث المروية عنه في التوحيد والإمامة والآداب والسنن وغيرها. القسم الثالث: معجم الرواة عن الإمام الهادي عليه السلام الذين حدثوا عنه ورتبناها على حروف المعجم وذكرنا مختصراً من حالاتهم وما قيل فيهم من المدح والجرح.
