الغرضُ منه فتحُ ملفٍ فكريٍّ وخارطةٍ معرفيَّةٍ عن علمِ الإجتماعِ في العالمِ العربيِّ، إذْ ظهرَ هذا العلمُ في المجالِ التداوليِّ الغربيِّ، ثُمَّ ارتحلَ إلى المجالِ التداوليِّ العربيِّ، ما يستدعي عمليَّةَ تأصيلٍ لتبيئتهِ في الثقافةِ العربيَّةِ الإسلاميَّةِ، وتبيانَ أهمِّ الإنتقاداتِ المعرفيَّةِ والمنهجيَّةِ التي تعرَّضَ لها، وتوضيحَ طبيعة أزمتِهِ المعرفيَّةِ وعلاقةِ هذه الأزمةِ بهيمنةِ الرؤى الوضعيَّةِ على مفاهيمِهِ ونظرياتِهِ وأدواتِهِ، وتفحّصَ المحاولاتِ التي بذلها بعضُ الباحثينَ في العالمِ العربيِّ لتأصيلِ علم الإجتماعِ، وتقويمَها.
والرؤيةُ الإستشرافيةُ لهذا الكتابِ، تتمثل في تقديمِ بديلٍ معرفيٍّ لعلمِ الإجتماعِ الغربيِّ، اصطلحنا على تسميتِهِ "علمَ العمرانِ الإسلاميِّ"، وتُكوِّنُ الرؤيةُ الإسلاميَّةُ إلى العالَمِ والنموذجُ المعرفيُّ الإسلاميُّ مرجعيتَهُ المعرفيَّةَ والمنهجيَّةَ، وتتمثل كذلك في تبيان الشروطِ الواجب توافُرُها في عمليَّةِ التأصيلِ الإسلاميِّ لعلمِ الإجتماعِ، معَ تأكيدِ ضرورةِ أن يحفظَ هذا العلمُ أصولَ المجالِ التداوليِّ الإسلاميِّ، ويُسْهِمَ في دراسةِ الفعلِ الإنسانيِّ في إطارِ منظومةِ القيمِ الإسلاميَّةِ، ويوظِّفَ منهجَ الجمعِ بينَ القراءَتينِ: قراءَةِ الوحيِ، وقراءَةِ العالَمِ الإجتماعيِّ.
