درس الطب والفلسفة في دمشق، وفي باريس تخصص في الجراحة، ودرس الفلسفة المقارنة.
يقيم في باريس منذ أكثر من عشرين عامًا، حيث يعمل طبيبًا، وهو أيضًا عضو الجمعية الجراحية الفرنسية.
هو مغرم بالمكان وسرد تفاصيله من خلال مجموعة من الأعمال السردية منها الرجل الذي يأكل نفسه والشيء والقطيعة وتفريغ الكائن ومديح الهرب ودمشق 77، وله أيضًا مؤلفات في أدب الرحلة مثل مخيلة الأمكنة وكتاب الهند
Book Description
تتميز كتابات "خليل النعيمي" الطبيب والروائي السوري بإدانة الإستبداد وبالإحتفال بالحياة. كتب رواية "الشيء" وكأنما يقول لنا بأن الإنسان العربي شيء وليس كياناً عاقلاً وحراً، ولعله بهذا ينقل للقارئ عصارة الفكر الغربي الجديد وهو يدين تشيء الإنسان من أجل سلب كرامته.
في هذه الرواية ينتقل النعيمي من الإستعراض الحسي والمشهدي ليحفر في الطبقة السفلى الخلفية لذاته وكيانه. يفعل هذا مصطنعاً طريقة تمثيلية تنسجم مع صناعة روائية تفترض وجود شخصيات وفضاء وحبكة. هكذا، لا يكتفي بطرح نفسه في موضع أسئلة تنهشه بإلحاح في مونولوغ داخلي متقطع، يعمد فيه إلى إختلاف شخصية نقيض يلاقيها في مكام وموعد منظمين، يجري بينهما حوار حول موضوع "هو الكاتب نفسه" أو شخصية في العمل الكائن. فهو ما ينفك يتساءل على إمتداد روائية عشرات الأسئلة عن قضايا من كل نوع، وعن مطلقات، وتهويمات بلا حدود، وهو يتأرجح بين مكانين (مسقط الرأس وباريس) أو كما يقول له نقيضه: "أنت لا زلت تفرق في ما كنته من قبل، عليك الآن أن تهتم بمن ستكون".
وهكذا بهذا الخطاب الروائي يطرح الروائي وبعمق فلسفي أسئلته عن الحياة، فتطفو على لسانه المقولات الكبرى: الحرية ، الوجود، التاريخ، الزمن، الحياة، والموت ليخلص إلى نتيجة أن الكتابة "علم يبحث في واقع الكائن وتحولاته".
