الكتابة عند علي القاسمي هي دائماً مرتبطة به وتعكس خبراته وحقول اهتمامه المعرفية وعلاقاته. من هنا تحفل مجموعته القصصية المعنونة "الحب في أوسلو" بكمٍّ من الشخصيات المتعددة الجنسية وترصد شبكة من العلاقات العابرة غالباً في مدون ودول عربية وغربية، وتنفتح على مسائل قديمة وحديثة، وتدور في فضاء روائي متعدّد، متشعّب، متنوّع، وفي الوقت نفسه، ثمة بنية روائية تحتضن هذا التنوع.
في القصة التي اختارها الكاتب عنواناً لمجموعته هذه، يتناول القاسمي مفهوم الحب والزواج في المجتمع الغربي، ويفعل ذلك من خلال قصة حب يتعرض فيها (ستيف) الأمريكي لخيانة حبيبته (غابي) الهولندية التي تعرّف عليها في عطلة صيفية كانت تقضيها في النرويج، ولكن ما أن عادت إلى بلادها حتى عادت إلى خطيبها السابق وتزوجت منه، معللة ذلك بـ "عادت روحي من جنة أوسلو الصيفية إلى خريف لايدن الغائم القاتم. وعندما جاء خطيبي إليّ في منزل والدي، واقترح موعداً لإتمام الزواج في الكنيسة، وجدتني بغير إرادة مني لا أعترض على شيء. فيتم الزواج". عبر هذا الفضاء الروائي استطاع القاسمي أن يستثمر مختلف أبعاد الكتابة السردية المتفتحة على التعدد والتلاقح وتشرّب القوالب وتنوع الأصوات (الرواة والشخوص) ثم تداخل الفضاءات والأزمنة وتناسلها، واعتماده في السرد نمط التضمين، بحيث أنه يتضمن حكاية داخل حكاية، ثم القدرة على احتواء المواقف والتعبير والأحاسيس التي تتصارع داخل أعماق الشخوص. وعلى هذا، فالقصص هنا متعددة وفق قوالب مختلفة، غير أن ما يطبع التغير هو ذاك التوازي بين قالب كل قصة والمضمون المتساوق معه.
يضم الكتاب ثماني قصص قصيرة جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: 1- الجريمة الكاملة، 2- السباح، 3- اللغز! ، 4- الحب في أوسلو، 5- التخاطر، 6- الساحر، 7- الحج، 8- الحلم.
