يبحث هذا الكتاب في منهج التفسير الموضوعي للقرآن الكريم عند الإمام "محمد باقر الصدر" من خلال إضاءة الباحث "أحمد عبد الله أبو زيد" على الأطروحة التي تقدم لها السيد محمد باقر الصدر، متناولاً مفاصلها وجذورها على ضوء فكر الشهيد الصدر في مدياته الأوسع. فماذا يعني الباحث بالتفسير الموضوعي؟ يشير الكتاب إلى أن التفسير الموضوعي شكل من أشكال الجهد العلمي الذي مارسه المسلمون باسمه الحالي مؤخراً وهو مجموعة من المقاربات التي أفضت بالتفسير إلى مرحلة تهدف فيها هذه المقاربة للقرآن إلى الخروج بنظيرة قرآنية تعالج بعض مشاكل المجتمع الإنساني والمعاصر.
من هنا تبدو أهمية محاولة السيد محمد باقر الصدر محاولة رائدة تستحق الوقوف عندها ومعالجتها لاشتثمار ما فيها من عناصر جدَةٍ والبناءٍ عليها لتطوير هذا الشكل من أشكال السير في فضاءات القرآن الكريم.
يعتبر فكر الإمام الصدر شاملاً لمختلف أوجه الحياة الاجتماعية –الاقتصادية السياسية في عصرنا مبيناً موقف الإسلام من جميع هذه القضايا فكان المنهج الموضوعي الصدري منهجاً فذاً، فهو يرى "أن أحكام الشريعة تقوم على أسس موحدة"، ففي حديثه عن (المؤشرات العامة لاقتصاد المجتمع الاسلامي) نراه يؤكد ما سماه بـ (اتجاه التشريع)، وهو مؤشر "يعني أن توجد في الشريعة –وضمن العناصر الثابتة من الاقتصاد الإسلامي- أحكام منصوصة في الكتاب والسنة تتجه كلها نحو هدف مشترك...". أما حديثه عن القيم الاجتماعية نراه يؤكد "أن في النصوص الإسلامية من الكتاب والسنة ما يؤكد على قيم معينة وتبينها، كالمساواة والأخوة والعدالة والقسط ونحو ذلك وهذه القيم تشكل أساساً لاستيحاء صيغ تشريعية متطورة ومتحركة –وفقاً للمستجدات والمتغيرات...".
