هذا الكتاب عبارة عن تحليق في سيرة مولانا جلال الدين الرومي، نشأته وتكوينه الفكري والعرقاني، وأسرته وشيوخه وتلاميذه وتآليفه الشعرية والنثرية وصلاته برجال عصره ووفاته. كان في أصله محاضرة نشرتها أنا ماري شيغل بالألمانية في عام (1973) اعتنى بها الباحث في التصوف الإسلامي خالد محمد عبده فقدم لها ودققها وحقق ما ورد فيها من معارف اعتماداً على ما نُقل من آثار مولانا جلال الدين الرومي إلى اللغة العربية أو ما كُتب عنه في المصادر العربية الحديثة، حتى يتحقق للقارىء العربي الحصول على معرفة موثقة بالرومي والمولوية.
