لقد اجمع جميع علماء الآثار بأن الحضارة السومرية هي أقدم الحضارات المتدنة على وجه الأرض والتي ساهمت في إغناء الحضارات الأخرى بكل ما تحتاجه من معالم التمدن والتطور وتدل كل الأبحاث التي قام بها العلماء بأن الشعب السومري الذي ظهر على ضفاف جنوب نهر الفرات قبل 4500 سنة ق.م. تميز بحضارة متطورة للغاية لا يمكن للعقل البشري أن يتصور أو يفسر كيف توصلوا إلى مثل تلك الإنجازات المذهلة بحيث قادوا بسرعة فائقة سير الحضارة وبشكل خيالي وفجروها بسرعة خارقة.
إن كل الباحثين وعلماء الآثار واللغات عرفوا أصل كل الشعوب والأقوام التي سكنت بلاد ما بين النهرين منذ الآلف الخامس ق. م. وعرفوا أصلهم ولغاتهم وحروبهم ومناطق سكناهم إلا أنهم لم يتكمنوا من معرفة أصل السومرية ولا من أين جاءوا ولا لغتهم التي لم تشبه أي لغة من اللغات القديمة فأصبح أمرهم محير للعلماء لذا سموها بالمشكلة السومرية ولا زالت هذه المشكلة قائمة.
يقول السومريون أن قصائدهم وقصصهم وأساطيرهم في رقمهم بأنهم قد جاءوا من الفضاء الخارجي من كوكب اسمه نيبيرو، وقد وصلت أول بعثه متكونة من 50 شخصاً بواسطة عربات فضائية كما سموها السومريون فأسسوا أول مستعمرة لهم على الأرض في مدينة اريدو جنوب بلاد ما بين النهرين ويعتقد منهم ظهر السومريون.
