ويتضمن الفصل الثاني الأساليب المرتبطة بدراسة الحالة مثل: تاريخ الحالة ومؤتمر الحالة، كما يعرض في الفصل الثالث أساليب جمع المعلومات في دراسة الحالة، ويتناول الفصل الرابع القائم بدراسة الحالة من حيث الخصائص والمهارات اللازمة للقائم بدراسة الحالة والمعايير الأخلاقية للقائم بدراسة الحالة.
ويتضمن الفصل الخامس ميادين إستخدام دراسة الحالة ويركز فيها على الإضطرابات والمشكلات النفسية وميدان الإضطرابات والمشكلات التعليمية وميدان التربية الخاصة مع إعطاء نبذة مختصرة عن كل ميدان ثم عرض المؤلف في الفصل السادس والأخير نماذج لدراسة الحالة وكذلك تقارير دراسة الحالة في كل ميدان من ميادين إستخدام دراسة الحالة.
